It has been a long time gang....

Well, like all of ya'll, we have just been soooo busy. I think this is the time of the year that we are busy because it is the time for parent/teacher conferences, soccer practice and games, Halloween ideas for the kids, and anything else that comes our way during the month of October. Enzo and Ales have had this horrible cough and congestion lately. So, i added that one to the top of my list of things to remedy. I really like autumn/fall season, but we never seem to get the full effect of fall here in San antonio. Its just really humid and hot. The only way we know that fall has arrived is if an occassional cool front blows in....then it blows out. :(
The subbing job is great; when i find time to do it. I am one of the room mothers for Ales's classroom and it is my job to coordinate book orders, run book fair, organize snack schedule, gather volunteers for holiday parties, events, and field trips. The other room mother does the remainding of the things on the list. It is almost like a full time job. Ales's school is so great though. He loves it alot. The parents do not have a problem giving money or donations for activities and events that we have in the classroom, it is just getting them to volunteer time. These people are high powered company executives, lawyers, doctors, and NBA stars. They are sooo busy.
Funny story....
I never knew that a San Antonio Spur's player had a son in my son's classroom last year. I had only met the mother, Erin, but never the father. Then, one day at the book fair, who comes walking in.....Brent Barry spurs basketball player with his son. His son and my son converse and i was speechless. I forgot his name and how i knew him. I guess that is called starstruck. I couldn't believe that i never but two and two together. Erin Barry, Mrs. Brent Barry. Well, anyways. They are very modest people and enjoy the school just as we do too.
I guess i can't blame the parents for not being able to donate time. I know they have crazy schedules just like we do. I hope all of ya'll stay sane and peaceful tonight. Talk to ya'll later.

Love,
The Gomez Family

Sounds like me last year when Katie was at Castle Hills First Baptist. It's a ton of work to be the room mom! Homeschooling isn't any less work but at least you do things on your own schedule and it's only YOUR kid you have to worry about and don't have to deal with all the other parents who won't lift a finger to pitch in. That was what drove me crazy the most when I was a room mom. We had the same problem when we coached Katie's soccer team, we couldn't even get anyone to be the team parent so we had to coach AND do all the team parent responsibilities, it's so frustrating how little some parents are willing to pitch in and help for things thier own kids are participating in! Good for you for being so involved!!
